Foreign Student Information

Foreign students may be admitted to the PPGEF master’s and doctoral programs, whether through regular admission or through a co-supervision agreement or exchange agreement.

To fully attend the master’s and doctoral courses as a regular student at PPGEF, foreigners must apply for admission following the rules of the calls for applications published periodically by the Program.

In the case of an exchange student, the following procedures and documents are necessary:

Step 1 – Supervising professor at PPGEF/UFSC

Letter from a permanent PPGEF/UFSC faculty member to the Program Coordinator stating that they accept to supervise the student during their period of studies at UFSC, according to the template available here.

Step 2 – Supervising professor at the home university

Letter from the student’s supervisor in the home university, also signed by the student’s Program Coordinator, justifying the need for carrying out studies at PPGEF and stating the activities to be developed and the period of completion.

Step 3 – Exchange student

  1. a) Student work plan at PPGEF, with the schedule and description of the activities to be carried out, such as enrollment in courses and participation in a research center or laboratory, signed by the student, their supervisor at the home institution and the PPGEF supervisor;
  2. b) Academic transcript, or equivalent document, issued by their graduate program at the home university;
  3. c) Copy of the passport containing the visa required for legal stay in the country during the period in which they remain linked to the Program as an exchange student.

In order to apply for enrollment as an exchange student, all the above documents must be sent by the supervising professor to PPGEF, via email (ppgef@contato.ufsc.br).

The exchange student has access to the university library to borrow books and they can use the benefits of the university restaurant as a regular student.

In the case of a co-supervision agreement, students will not be registered as exchange students but as regular students, as they must fulfill all the requirements of a regular student.
